Euphoria Star Takes the Leap of Faith to Lead Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed Series
Netflix has locked its first assassin: Toby Wallace will lead the live-action Assassin’s Creed series, the streamer’s adaptation of Ubisoft’s hit franchise, coming together fast just four months after the official series order.
Netflix finally put a face to its Assassin's Creed series. After months of radio silence since the official series order, the streamer has tapped a lead. And yeah, they went interesting.
Toby Wallace, who you might know from The Bikeriders and Babyteeth, has signed on as a series regular and, per Deadline, one of the main leads in what is being pitched as a high-octane action thriller. It is also a bit of a homecoming: Wallace last worked with Netflix six years ago on The Society. Before he slips on any hooded robes, though, he is set to show up in HBO's Euphoria Season 3.
The story is centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions - one set on determining mankind's future through control and manipulation, the other fighting to preserve free will. The series will follow its characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity's destiny.
In plain terms: expect the classic Assassin's Creed push-pull (think Assassins vs. Templars), hopping through major moments in history while arguing about whether people should be steered or left alone.
