The Euphoria star appeared in the new show, but many people missed her.

The creator of HBO's Euphoria, Sam Levinson, has performed a true miracle in making his teen drama show full of sex, drugs, and even murder truly compelling to millions of viewers out there.

But while Levinson was hailed as Hollywood's next big showrunner, his sophomore project with The Weeknd, The Idol, alienated many of his loyal fans.

Levinson's new show caused a huge controversy even before its release, with people accusing the creator of adding an insane amount of nudity just for the sake of it, with no narrative implications attached. However, some viewers still liked The Idol, and those who also loved Euphoria counted themselves lucky after seeing its pilot episode, which featured one blink-and-you-missed-it cameo that brought the two shows pretty close together.

In a nightclub scene where The Weeknd's Tedros seduces Depp's Jocelyn, fans were able to spot actress Alexa Demie, known for her role as Maddy Perez in Euphoria. In the scene, she is dancing and drinking shots with Dyanne, a side character portrayed by BLACKPINK's Jennie Kim.

Although the camera never even focused on the Euphoria actress, making it difficult to recognize her, Demie was listed as a 'dancing girl' in the credits, proving that it was indeed Maddy in the club. This made all Euphoria fans both happy and somewhat confused about how the two shows are interconnected.

On the one hand, fans were glad to see Demie back in a Levinson show, which proves that both Euphoria and The Idol share the same universe — an idea that Levinson himself mentioned a number of times. But on the other hand, the fact that Demie was not listed as Maddy in the credits destroyed this theory in an instant, proving that HBO decided against this bold franchise idea.

Still, fans are convinced that it was Maddy in the scene, and they are hoping to see Alexa Demie and some of the other cast members from Euphoria in future episodes of The Idol. Perhaps this cameo in Episode 1 was just the beginning of her character's narrative arc that could unfold in the four unreleased episodes.

The Idol Season 1 Episode 3 will arrive on HBO on June 18, 2023.
