The melodrama may end on a sour note.

Hallmark's When Calls The Heart has been one of the most popular melodramas on network television for more than a decade, and for good reason - people loved the story of Elizabeth Thatcher, a young schoolteacher from a wealthy family who was forced to move to the Canadian frontier to teach coal miners' children at the local school. While this storyline sounded like a total nightmare for the heroine, she was actually quite happy to try on a new life, and fans respected her for it, describing Elizabeth as one of the best melodramatic leads out there.

However, given that the show has been around for so long, it's only natural that the writers struggle to come up with new storylines, and it looks like they've decided to do the worst thing possible - change the beloved ship in hopes of spicing up the overall storyline.

A match made in heaven

In the current Season 10, Elizabeth has suddenly become infatuated with Nathan Grant, a man who has had a crush on her since his first appearance in Season 6. And while the idea of this storyline isn't that terrifying at first glance, it's important to note that Elizabeth has a strong connection with Lucas Bouchard, a businessman and owner of a local saloon.

Lucas and Elizabeth look like a perfect couple, and she has already agreed to marry him, calling him her deepest love. However, in the current season, it looks like Elizabeth has completely forgotten about her promises to Lucas and is suddenly flirting with Nathan, which is really upsetting.

Elizabeth and Lucas should be the endgame, as Nathan is not husband material at all, since he decided to move to the city just to be closer to Elizabeth, which sounds pretty creepy and weird.

The writers shouldn't ruin such a beloved couple in the hope of getting more people to watch the show, because old-time fans will completely stop caring about When Calls The Heart if Lucas and Elizabeth are separated, as it would wipe out the build-up of the last four seasons in an instant.
