Elden Ring Nightreign Unleashes The Forsaken Hollows: Every Deep of Night Mode Update Arriving December 17
Elden Ring Nightreign cranks the pain: The Forsaken Hollows DLC storms into the brutal Deep of Night mode on December 17, 2025, rolling out alongside server maintenance and bug fixes.
If you thought The Forsaken Hollows already pushed Elden Ring Nightreign to the edge, FromSoftware just stuffed that energy into the game’s meanest room. As of December 17, 2025, the DLC’s content is being folded into Nightreign’s top-tier difficulty, Deep of Night. Brace yourself.
What changed today
- The Forsaken Hollows DLC (which launched December 4) now shows up in Deep of Night runs — expect new enemies, new locations, the whole mess.
- The patch also brings bug fixes and general improvements.
- Servers are undergoing maintenance on December 17, roughly 16:00 to 19:00 local time in Japan. Online play will be temporarily unavailable during that window; offline play still works.
The catch (read this before you queue)
There’s a big restriction that affects matchmaking. FromSoftware spelled it out like this:
"Additional content elements will appear only when matching with players who have applied the DLC in 'Deep Night'."
Translation: if even one person in your group doesn’t have the DLC applied, you might not see the new stuff. You can still run Deep of Night without the DLC, but the fresh content only kicks in when your party composition checks that box.
A quick refresher on Deep of Night
Deep of Night has been the game’s final-exam mode since September 11, 2025. You don’t get to choose your final Nightlord, the depth rating ramps up the longer you survive, and if you make it out alive you earn Relics and weapon effects. The mode also turns off Shifting Earth routes and throws nastier (and sometimes mutated) enemies at you — and now it’s adding Forsaken Hollows’ brand of cruelty on top.
How much harder are we talking?
The DLC already has a reputation for being a pain in the best and worst ways, so dropping it into Deep of Night is exactly the chaos people were hoping for (or dreading). Players are already bracing for boss-level nonsense, tossing around names like Artorias, Mohg, and the Demon duo, and even daydreaming about areas on the order of the Great Hollow. Yes, some of those references are from other FromSoftware games — that’s how spicy folks expect this to get.
Timing and maintenance
FromSoftware announced in Japanese that servers would be down for maintenance on Wednesday, December 17, from around 16:00 to 19:00 (Japan time). Once the update lands and servers come back, the Deep of Night pool will start surfacing Forsaken Hollows content — provided your squad setup meets the DLC requirement.
Bottom line: Deep of Night wasn’t exactly friendly before, and now it’s getting DLC heat. If you’re diving in, maybe cancel your plans and keep your ego on airplane mode.
