DWTS Fans Suspect Behind-the-Scenes Drama That Led to Matt Walsh Elimination

Dancing With The Stars Season 32 started off on a sour note, as the big premiere episode was practically ruined by poor performances from the contestants and strange decisions from the judges. Although many of the stars underperformed on the dance floor, fans were really offended to learn that Veep actor Matt Walsh and his partner Koko Iwasaki were the first to be eliminated this season.

Of course, Walsh was not perfect as a dancer, showing his stiffness and lack of skill almost immediately, but fans were pretty sure that the actor would definitely improve in the upcoming episodes, which made his elimination pretty ridiculous for a lot of people. However, some fans are sure that Walsh was not eliminated for his dancing, but for another reason.

WGA strike to blame

The thing is, Matt Walsh is not only an actor, but also an accomplished screenwriter, so when the WGA announced their plans to go on strike, he was quick to support them by refusing to work as both an actor and a writer. Walsh even walked out of one of the first DWTS rehearsals in support of the strike, leaving other cast members and producers behind.

While Walsh clearly had an important reason for doing so, it's only natural that the producers of the reality show were quite upset with him for skipping the rehearsal and putting the entire season in jeopardy of being derailed.

Fortunately, the WGA was able to come to some sort of agreement before the season started, and Walsh was able to participate in the show after all. However, his early elimination really made some fans wonder if the judges had let him go early because of his support for the WGA, possibly to get back at him for his position.

Of course, none of these theories are proven in any way, but we have to agree that the fact that Walsh was the first to be eliminated, even though both Harry Jowsey and Tyson Beckford were clearly dancing much worse than him, looks a bit sketchy.
