Their hatred for this contestant has nothing to do with his dance moves.

Since its inception in 2005, fans have tuned into Dancing with the Stars to watch celebrities team up with professional dancers to perform exciting routines and compete to avoid elimination each week. Over the years, fans have seen stars from all walks of fame on the show, from Kim Kardashian to actress and singer Zendaya and everyone in between.

Season 32 of DWTS premiered on September 26th this year and features Too Hot To Handle contestant Harry Jowsey, social media personality Lele Pons, and actress and singer Jamie Lynn Spears, among other big names. Each contestant has their claim to fame, but when it comes to NFL running back Adrian Peterson, his has nothing to do with his career. It has to do with his criminal record.

Fans are not happy with him being on the show and have continued to call him out on social media, demanding that he be removed from the show.

Other fan comments are more direct, calling him a child abuser and wife beater, but where did these names come from? As it turns out, the former Minnesota Vikings star has a history of violent behavior toward women and children.

What was he charged with?

In 2014, he faced felony child abuse charges for injuring his 4-year-old son while disciplining him by hitting the child with a switch (a type of flexible branch), leaving the little boy with cuts and bruises on his back, legs, groin area, and more. Peterson was suspended from playing for a season, but defended his actions, claiming that this form of disciplining was normal and acceptable where he came from, and later revealed that he continued to use physical forms of punishment to discipline his children.

Then, in February 2022, he was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence after an argument with his wife, Ashley. Peterson insists that it was blown out of proportion, that while he grabbed her hand and removed her ring, he did not strike her. In 2011, he was the subject of a lengthy police investigation following allegations of rape during a night of drinking and sex at a hotel.

Peterson also has a history of infidelity, fathering 6 children with 6 different women, with his relationships overlapping.

In addition to being one of the best players in NFL history, Peterson is also one of the most controversial contestants on DWTS, and fans insist he doesn't deserve to be given a platform on the Disney+ show aimed at children and families.

Fans are not happy at all

In the comments of a recent Reddit thread, fans said things like ‘he needs to go home ASAP,’ and it turns out they were serious, as Peterson narrowly missed elimination in his second week, landing in the bottom two due to a lack of fan votes.

No matter how good his dance moves, or how hard DWTS tries to portray him in a positive light, Peterson will not last long on the show if the fans have any say in the matter.
