Is Detective Danny Reagan ready to retire?

With its long journey of 13 seasons, Blue Bloods has stood the test of time and become one of the most beloved shows on television. The CBS police procedural's immense popularity is a testament to its great writing and strong cast who have made a lasting impression on viewers.

At this point, all members of the Reagan family feel like best friends and it seems the series couldn't go on without any of them, especially Danny Reagan, who has been a staple of the show since day one.

But how long will Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Danny, be willing to continue his acting gig?

Donnie has good reasons to quit

Thirteen years is a long time for any job, and Wahlberg is not wasting his hiatus caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike. He is an active member of the boy band New Kids on the Block, which reunited in 2007 and continues to release new singles and go on tours.

With the WGA strike over, the 14th season of Blue Bloods can begin production soon. However, the new season will see some changes. CBS was reluctant to renew the fan-favorite show earlier this year, and only did so with significant budget cuts.

The ensemble cast reportedly had to agree to a 25 percent pay cut in order to move forward, which is obviously a huge red flag.

Could this all lead to Wahlberg leaving Blue Bloods?

Breathe easy, fans. Fortunately, the cast of Blue Bloods is a true family and really cares about the fans. Donnie Wahlberg is adamant about staying on the show until the very end, no matter what. In fact, he hopes the series will continue for years to come.

The actor told Us Weekly back in April that he wouldn't mind if the show followed in the footsteps of the most successful police procedurals. For example, Law and Order: SVU, which has been on the air for 25 years.

‘Ice-T and Mariska Hargitay have been going for gosh, so many years and we hope to last as long as they have,’ the actor said.

That sure does sound like music to our ears. So let's just relax and hope for 13 more amazing Blue Bloods seasons.
