Donnie Wahlberg Comes from a Very Famous Family: Who Are His Siblings?
And who represents the next generation of Wahlberg stars?
From founding member of boyband New Kids on the Block to playing Danny Reagan on Blue Bloods, Donnie Wahlberg has been in the public eye since he was a teenager. Now 53, Donnie isn’t the only member of his family to become famous.
From humble beginnings in Dorchester, Boston, several of the nine children born to Donald Wajhlberg Sr. and his wife Alma have made a career in entertainment:
Mark Wahlberg:
Two years younger than Donnie, Mark was also one of the original members of New Kids on the Block, although he quit long before they made it big. He went on to forge his own music career as the frontman for Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch – and he later turned to acting, with roles in films including Boogie Nights, Ted and Transformers.
Paul Wahlberg:
59-year-old Paul chose cookery as a career – and still ended up on TV. He was Executive Chef at Bridgeman’s in Hull, Massachusetts for nine years and co-owns burger chain Wahlburgers with brothers Donnie and Mark. The burger joint is the subject of the reality TV show of the same name.
Robert Wahlberg:
Robert was born two years before Donnie and had a ‘normal job’ at a power company as well as doing a bit of acting. His first acting credit came in 1998 when he appeared in Southie alongside his kid brother Donnie. And during the 2000s he was relatively busy with acting roles, including as Detective Harris in The Equalizer (2014).
Arthur Wahlberg:
Arthur has appeared in a number of movies but is probably most recognisable for playing Uncle Archie in Patriots Day. He’s also appeared in the TV series Wahlburgers.
Jim Wahlberg:
While not necessarily a famous face on camera, director, producer and writer Jim created Wahl Street Productions and is Executive Producer on Wahl Street, a series that documents the business interests of his brother Mark. Jim was featured in a special episode of Wahlburgers that saw him run the 2014 Boston Marathon in honour of all those that died when the previous year’s event was subject to a bomb attack.
The boys also have three sisters who chose to stay out of the limelight, Michelle (53), Tracey (56) and Debbie who sadly died of a heart attack in 2003 aged just 43.
And there’s a new generation of Wahlbergs on the way. Music artist Brandon Wahlberg is Mark’s son.
