Apple TV+ wants your summer — or at least a slice of your subscription budget — and it's rolling out three major series in July to convince you it's more than just a Ted Lasso machine.

The lineup includes a galaxy-spanning sci-fi epic, an endangered-species nature doc, and the final season of that pastel-colored Mexican resort show you probably forgot existed.

Here's what's coming, and why it might (or might not) be worth your time.

Foundation: Season 3

Premieres July 11

Apple's $200-million answer to "What if Game of Thrones was set in space and no one smiled ever?" returns with Season 3 — set a breezy 152 years after last season, because who needs character continuity when you've got galaxy-wide time jumps.

This round picks up with the Foundation's mission now completely off the rails and the Cleonic Empire hanging by a thread. Also, there's a new villain: a warlord named The Mule, who's apparently conquering entire planets using mind control and rage issues.

New cast members include Cherry Jones, Pilou Asbæk, Troy Kotsur, and a lot more polished actors trying to make "space faith vs. science" sound profound.

Quick recap of what to expect:

  • More lush CGI planetscapes than any show needs
  • A villain named after a farm animal
  • Psychic warfare, philosophical monologues, and probably another time skip or two
  • Still written by Batman Begins screenwriter David S. Goyer, for better or worse

Still no sign of general human emotion, but hey — at least it's consistent.

The Wild Ones

Premieres July 11

This is Apple's latest prestige nature doc, shot on 350 custom-built cameras and filled with rare, endangered, and extremely camera-shy animals. Think Planet Earth, but with just enough climate anxiety to ruin your afternoon.

Expect sweeping shots of:

  • Javan rhinos
  • Malayan tigers
  • Gobi bears
  • Caucasian leopards
  • North Atlantic right whales

One highlight: a bear silently crossing a moonlit desert. Another: a full-blown whale rescue. Yes, they got it all on tape. According to Apple, the series "showcases the threats these endangered species face" and tries to "bring awareness and support" to conservation efforts — which, fair, but also: welcome to another beautiful reminder that the planet's on fire.

Acapulco: Season 4

Premieres July 23

The sunniest series on Apple TV+ is back — and this time, it's saying goodbye. Acapulco, the bilingual dramedy about a poor kid who becomes a hotel tycoon, returns for its fourth and final season.

Maximo is older now, and trying to fix up the Las Colinas resort to its former glory. There's beachside drama, heartfelt nostalgia, and enough dreamy sunsets to make you wonder why you're watching this on a Tuesday night in sweatpants.

Series star and executive producer Eugenio Derbez said:

"These four seasons have been magical. Acapulco brought joy and heart to audiences around the world, and while saying goodbye is bittersweet, I'm so proud of what we created."

That's a nice way of saying, "Nobody watched this but we liked doing it."

Whether you're into deep-space politics, bear tracking, or beach nostalgia, Apple's July slate is at least trying to give you options. Just don't be surprised if you start one of these shows and forget about it halfway through because your Apple TV app keeps recommending Severance again.
