The cult sitcom is unlikely to ever return to TV.

Summary

  • Many fans are looking forward to a reboot of Two and a Half Men.
  • Jon Cryer is skeptical about the show's return.
  • The cast of the sitcom is still bitter about Charlie Sheen's special treatment.

In recent years, there have been a number of reboots and remakes of classic hit movies and shows. Disney, for example, has revamped many of its iconic animated films, such as Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. Last year, Paramount released a revival of the iconic NBC sitcom, and HBO announced that it is working on a Harry Potter television reboot. With that in mind, it is only natural to expect many other fan-favorite projects to resurface.

CBS's iconic sitcom Two and a Half Men, which ran for a whopping twelve seasons from 2003 to 2015, would definitely get a warm reception from audiences if it were to be rebooted. After all, viewers loved the story of two brothers, Charlie and Alan, as they navigated their bachelor lives while trying to raise Alan's son. But apparently, there's very little chance that the show will ever be rebooted.

Many Bridges Were Burned

Although it was a hilarious comedy on screen, there was a lot of drama behind Two and a Half Men as the show's star, Charlie Sheen, was involved in many scandals. From drug abuse to drunken debauchery to assault allegations, the actor had an impressive rap sheet, if you can call it that. Naturally, his reputation reflected on the show's, leading to its eventual cancellation. Needless to say, Sheen's co-stars aren't exactly eager to work with him again.

'I don't know how that happens. The thing is, Charlie is doing a lot better now which is wonderful. He and I have not spoken in a few years but he's doing a lot better, which obviously I am happy about,' Jon Cryer, who played Alan on the sitcom, recently commented on the possibility of a reboot.

Unresolved Grievances

Ultimately, Chuck Lorre, who executive produced Two and a Half Men throughout its run, was deeply affected by Sheen's troubles, as the showrunner considered the actor his friend. The two have since reconciled, but their initial falling-out left a mark on the show's conclusion.

In turn, Sheen's co-stars still can't get over the fact that despite his behavior, the actor was the only one raking in millions for his work on the show, while the rest of the cast was paid significantly less.

'The thing for me is, when Two and a Half Men was happening Charlie was like the highest paid actor in television – probably ever. There has been nobody that has surpassed the enormous amount of money he was making. And yet he blew it up. So you kind of have to think, I love him, I wish him the best and that he should live in good health for the rest of his life, but I don't know if I want to get in business with him for any length of time. If it was a one-off or…' Jon Cryer revealed.

Given that the relationship between the stars has soured, it's highly unlikely that the sitcom will ever be rebooted, unless it's made into a completely different story.
