Don't Expect Daniel Radcliffe Back for a Cameo in Harry Potter TV Show
It's a definitive 'no' from the Harry Potter star.
When the news broke out that a Harry Potter TV show was in development, the huge Wizarding World fandom went crazy, and the buzz is not quieting down any time soon.
Reportedly, HBO, rebranded as Max, has been developing the Harry Potter reboot since 2021, but the network only made the public announcement in April this year.
Max is now a part of Warner Bros. that gave the world the iconic movie series, and with projects like Games of Thrones and House of the Dragon under their belts, the network's producers are sure to delight fans with another brilliant rendition of J. K. Rowling's fantasy story. However, all Potterheads out there are worried about the casting decisions the new producers are going to make, and many are wondering if the original cast members may appear in the TV reboot.
While some actors, like Tom Felton for instance, are willing to return to the Wizarding World to play other roles, it looks like the main star of the original movie series, Daniel Radcliffe, is not so keen on making a cameo in the new show.
Talking to Deadline, the beloved actor noted that he was not surprised to learn that Max was planning a Harry Potter reboot. According to Radcliffe, Harry Potter is a classic book series that is destined to be adapted again and again, and now is a good time to take a fresh look at the story.
'I think that Harry Potter was always destined to become like Sherlock Holmes,' Radcliffe said. 'There's probably an eight-year-old kid out there whose life is going to change in a couple years, so my brain does go there.'
When asked about a potential cameo role in the Max project, the Kill Your Darlings actor uttered a definitive, yet very Britishly hedged 'no.'
'I don't think so, no. Certainly, everything I've read about the series they're starting fresh, so it'd be a bit weird to have me pop in,' the actor explained.
It looks like Radcliffe simply doesn't see how he could contribute to the new Harry Potter series. After all, the actor must be pretty tired of being such a big part of the magical saga for all those years, so it's no wonder he'd rather not appear in the Max reboot, even for a cameo role.
