Did You Recognize This MCU Actress as Young Ahsoka Tano In Episode 5?
So who played the teenage Ahsoka?
Ugh, the fifth episode of one of the most high-profile Star Wars Universe shows in recent years, Dave Filoni's Ahsoka, turned out to be one of the most colorful and memorable, given the show's unnecessarily slow pacing. Not only longtime fans of the franchise, who actively follow all the shows in the Filoniverse, but also newcomers were able to rejoice.
Although the events of the main timeline didn't progress too much (we can only wonder what will happen in the two penultimate episodes, if the long-awaited revelation of Thrawn and Ezra will come to fruition in the finale), we finally got more screen time for Ahsoka Tano and her story.
Viewers were treated to a flashback to the Clone Wars, with a different actress playing a teenage version of the title character. But who is this actress and what else is she known for?
Be warned, this article contains spoilers for the fifth episode of Ahsoka!
Shadow Warrior
During their time in the World Between Worlds, Ahsoka and Anakin traveled back to the time of the Clone Wars. Ahsoka was not played by Rosario Dawson, which is fitting since the character was only about 16-17 years old at the time.
The portrayal of the teenage Ahsoka was extremely powerful, as the actress was able to convey a perfect fusion of the wisdom and attitudes of the mature Ahsoka and the energetic naiveté of her younger version. Such a great performance was delivered by 16-year-old actress Ariana Greenblatt, who, although only at the beginning of her career, has already appeared in many high-profile projects.
She is part of the MCU
This is not the first Disney project for Greenblatt, as she became famous thanks to Marvel. Notably, the actress also played a younger version of the character. You may remember her as little Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War. Yes, that heartbreaking moment when Thanos discovered the little girl single-handedly fighting off his servants. It was a tragic start to the story of a dysfunctional father-daughter relationship.
What else is Greenblatt known for?
The final chapter of the Avengers story is not her first role within Disney! From 2016 to 2018, the budding actress starred in the family comedy series Stuck in the Middle with Jenna Ortega. The show was about the large Diaz family and little Ariana played Daphne, the youngest of seven children.
The actress clearly has a bright future ahead of her, as this year she starred in the sci-fi action thriller 65 opposite Adam Driver, and also played the role of Sasha, a girl not interested in dolls, in Gretta Gerwig's acclaimed Barbie.
