A split-second shot in Marvel’s X-Men-centric Avengers: Doomsday teaser has fans buzzing over a possible Spider-Man Easter egg, reigniting crossover fever and sending frame-by-frame sleuths into overdrive.

Marvel dropped a new Avengers: Doomsday teaser, and it is very much in its X-Men era. It also accidentally kicked off a side quest: people think they spotted Spider-Man lurking in a window. Let’s sort this out.

The third teaser leans hard into the mutants, confirming two big returns: James Marsden is back as Scott Summers/Cyclops, and Patrick Stewart is once again Professor X. For those keeping score, Marsden has been in multiple X-Men films and last popped up for a quick cameo in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The internet frenzy started over a blink-and-you-miss-it shot at the X-Mansion. In the background, there’s a shape on a windowpane that some viewers swear looks like Spider-Man’s mask. Cue speculation, screenshots, and a lot of pausing at 0.5x speed on X (formerly Twitter) on January 7, 2026.

"Is it just me or is that a Spider-Man face in the X-Mansion window in #AvengersDoomsday teaser?"

Variations of that popped up from fans like @bukku_san, @payel1Mukherjee, @ShimonD43976, and @DhamijaSwastik, with some calling it a 'reverse X' that reads like Spidey’s eyes. If you squint, yeah, you can see it. But the more likely answer is much less dramatic: it appears to be the X-Men symbol seen from behind, which can trick your brain into seeing the Spider-Man mask shape. As of now, Marvel hasn’t said a word about any Easter egg, intentional or otherwise.

  • New footage: Marvel’s third Avengers: Doomsday teaser centers the X-Men’s growing place in the MCU.
  • Cast confirmations: James Marsden returns as Cyclops alongside Patrick Stewart’s Professor X. Marsden’s last appearance in the role was a cameo in 2014’s Days of Future Past.
  • The debate: A shape in an X-Mansion window set off Spider-Man Easter egg theories on X on Jan 7, 2026. The simplest read is that it’s the X logo from the other side of the glass.
  • Official word: None from Marvel, on the window shot or any Spidey tie-in.
  • Status: Avengers: Doomsday is in post-production and slated to arrive later this year.

If you’re holding out for Spider-Man in this movie, this window probably isn’t your smoking gun. Fun to chase, though.
