Did Suits' Patrick Adams and Meghan Markle Date in Real Life?

Fans wonder if the co-stars actually dated in real life.

While many people first heard of Meghan Markle after she began dating Prince Harry, she was already quite famous as an actress long before meeting the British royal. Thanks to her lead role on USA Network's Suits, Markle began a promising career that was cut short when she was forced to retire from acting after becoming a duchess.

However, fans still fondly remember Meghan's time on the show and wonder if she and co-star Patrick Adams ever dated in real life.

In the show, Adams portrayed a savvy lawyer named Michael Ross, while Markle played Rachel Zane opposite him. The chemistry between the two actors was obvious from the start, so it was only natural that the writers decided to make Michael and Rachel fall in love.

The characters enjoyed their romance until the end of the series, and the actors looked so good as a couple that some fans began to suspect that Patrick and Meghan were actually dating behind the scenes.

But, as it turns out, the truth about their great on-screen chemistry is much simpler. Meghan and Patrick were great friends long before they started working on Suits, as they met back in 2006 while starring in the same canceled television pilot.

The stars had such a warm relationship in real life that playing lovers on screen proved a little difficult for them — especially for Adams, who admitted that he struggled to kiss Markle throughout the show.

'The love scenes are tough. Anything romantic, because Meghan is like a sister to me, it's very, very strange to do any of those kissing scenes, or anything like that,' the actor said.

Adams and Markle don't really hang out much these days, as the actor feels a little intimidated by her current megastar status and fears they won't be able to talk to each other like they used to. However, they still have nothing but kind words for each other, and Patrick even supported Meghan when she was attacked by fans of the royal family in 2021, sharing his love and admiration for his former co-star.
