Did Lili Reinhart & Cole Sprouse Breakup Ruin Bughead on Riverdale?
It looks like the actors have ruined the beloved ship.
After seven long years, The CW's Riverdale has finally wrapped up. And it looks like even die-hard fans of the teen drama are quite relieved to see the show come to a close, as the last few seasons have gotten worse and worse, with both the writing and acting becoming more uninspired with each passing episode.
But while the series' quality started to drop right after the stellar Season 2 with some insane plot twists added to the story for no apparent reason, fans feel that not only the writers are responsible for Riverdale's downfall.
Even though Riverdale was often labeled as a mystery show, it was the romantic element that really made this Archie reimagining a hit. Viewers loved the chemistry between all the romantic couples, and the fact that some of the cast were even dating behind the scenes made the show even more juicy.
One such couple was Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart, who played Jughead and Betty, but it looks like the actors' troubled romance made fans suffer as well.

Actors' breakup ruined everything
While Lili and Cole were still together, the chemistry between their characters was through the roof, and fans were pretty sure that this particular ship would be the endgame for these characters. However, once the co-stars started having problems in 2020, viewers noticed the changes in Betty and Jughead's chemistry immediately, and when they finally broke up, the writers did the same with Bughead.
Needless to say, fans were heartbroken, and the fact that the romance between Jughead and Betty was quickly swept under the rug and almost never mentioned again only made things worse, as such a beloved storyline was killed off by the actors themselves.
'I find it odd how "permanent" Bughead's split after high school seemed to be compared to the other couples. Bughead was undeniably the show's main romantic focus for so long but later seemed to have faded into nothing but a "previous storyline" that's hardly mentioned or eluded to once or twice per season, like the Gargoyle King or Edgar's cult,' a fan noted.
