December 8–14 on Hulu: The Week’s Must-Stream TV and Movie Premieres
Hulu’s December 8–14 slate hits hard, with Dance Moms: A New Era Season 2 taking the floor on December 8 and Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 launching with a two-episode premiere.
Hulu is in full weekly-drop mode again. The big swing is a midweek, two-episode return for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2. Before that, Dance Moms: A New Era dumps its entire second season to kick things off, and by Friday there is a new thriller, Neighborhood Watch, angling for your late-night queue. The rest of the week is a buffet of docu/reality runs, some anime, and one of those eyebrow-raising catalog dumps where you realize House Hunters International has somehow reached Season 199. Not a typo.
The headliners
Dance Moms: A New Era Season 2 lands first on Monday with a full-season drop. The show follows Glo Hampton, who used to run the prestigious Studio Bleu. That studio shuts down between seasons, so this year Glo and her daughter Kaeli try to rebuild under a new banner, Project X. Naturally, nothing goes cleanly: a new mom-and-dancer combo crashes the scene and one of the veteran moms is dealing with personal stuff that bleeds into the team. Translation: expect fireworks in the rehearsal room.
On Wednesday, Percy Jackson and the Olympians kicks off Season 2 with a two-episode premiere. It is the Rick Riordan adaptation you know: Percy, a demigod son of Poseidon, heads into the Sea of Monsters after his friend Grover goes missing. Bigger quest, bigger gods, bigger trouble. Friday brings Neighborhood Watch, a new thriller about a young man struggling with mental illness who witnesses a kidnapping. He reports it, the cops brush him off, and he teams up with his next-door neighbor, a grumpy security guard, to try to rescue the abducted woman themselves. Classic setup, tense vibes.
