A Reacher star is suiting up for the DCU. Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl flies into US theaters next year, led by Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El alongside Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, and Jason Momoa as Lobo.

Supergirl just picked up a familiar face if you watched Reacher season 2. And in true old-school Hollywood fashion, the reveal didn’t come via a flashy announcement — it popped up on an agency CV.

Ferdinand Kingsley boards Supergirl as Elias Knoll

Ferdinand Kingsley has joined DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Supergirl as Elias Knoll, the father of Ruthye Marye Knoll. The casting appears on Kingsley’s resume on talent agency Conway Van Gelder Grant’s website — not glamorous, but reliable.

The movie is directed by Craig Gillespie and is part of the DCU slate, with Milly Alcock leading as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl. The story draws from Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow miniseries.

Who is playing who

  • Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl
  • Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills
  • Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll
  • Jason Momoa as Lobo
  • Ferdinand Kingsley as Elias Knoll (Ruthye’s father)

If the film sticks close to the comic, Elias Knoll isn’t on screen a ton — his death is the spark that sends young Ruthye after Krem. That said, it’s the kind of role that can carry weight through flashbacks or added scenes if Gillespie wants to dig in on Ruthye’s backstory.

Quick refresher on Kingsley

You’ve seen him as Hob Gadling in Netflix’s The Sandman, George Wilkins in Apple TV+’s Silo, and A.M. in Reacher season 2 on Prime Video. On the film side: The Last Legion (2007), Dracula Untold (2014), and Mank (2020). He’s also popped up in Victoria, Still Star-Crossed, and Doctor Who.

What Woman of Tomorrow is about

This is one of the stronger modern Supergirl stories, and it gives Kara a sharp, space-western vibe with a moral spine. The official solicitation for issue #1 lays it out:

"Kara Zor-El has seen some epic adventures over the years, but finds her life without meaning or purpose. Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. What was it all for? Wherever she goes, people only see her through the lens of Superman's fame. Just when Supergirl thinks she's had enough, everything changes. An alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission. Her world has been destroyed, and the bad guys responsible are still out there. She wants revenge, and if Supergirl doesn't help her, she'll do it herself, whatever the cost. Now a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core."

So yes, the dog is part of the plan. And yes, Elias Knoll is a pretty grim catalyst for everything that follows.

When to expect it

Supergirl is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
