Days of Our Lives is shaking up the Carver family saga this week as Hank Northrop arrives, bringing a fresh jolt to the long-running NBC/Peacock soap with a new character set to make waves.

Days is adding a new face with a very familiar last name, and yes, it connects right into the Carver family. Hank Northrop shows up in Salem this week, and given who his parents are, this casting has some fun layers.

Who Hank Northrop is playing

Per Soap Opera Digest, Northrop makes his Days of Our Lives debut on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, as Liam Selejko. On paper, Liam arrives as Abe Carver’s new literacy mentee. In reality, things go sideways fast. Abe (James Reynolds) and his son, Theo, discover Liam used to bully Theo back in high school. That history does not stay buried, and the fallout runs through the week as all three try to figure out what forgiveness and second chances actually look like when the wounds are personal.

Legacy kid alert

Northrop is daytime royalty-adjacent: he’s the son of Wayne Northrop, who originated Roman Brady on Days, and Lynn Herring, forever Lucy Coe on General Hospital. He says his parents loved their careers but still tried to keep him and his younger brother, Grady, out of the business so they could choose their own path. That didn’t exactly stick.

'He was my hero, still is to this day, and forever will be... so in the back of my mind, I always thought, I know they don’t want me to be an actor, but I want to follow in his footsteps.'

And yes, his mom is thrilled he landed in Salem. In a TV Insider chat, Northrop said Herring went full proud-parent: excited, prepared, loaded him up with practical tips, insider wisdom, and the pep talks to match.

How long might Liam stick around?

Early chatter has Liam pegged as a short-term but meaningful arc. That said, this is Salem. If viewers latch onto him, the door stays open.

  • Debut: Wednesday, October 29, 2025
  • Character: Liam Selejko, Abe’s literacy mentee with a messy past
  • Conflict: Liam used to bully Theo Carver; tension escalates among Liam, Abe, and Theo all week
  • Theme: Second chances and forgiveness, even when it hits close to home
  • Family ties: Hank is the son of Wayne Northrop (Roman Brady originator) and Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe, GH)
  • Backstage boost: Mom was over the moon and helped him prep with advice and pep talks
  • Expectation: Likely a pivotal guest run that could expand if fans respond

Bottom line: a Northrop back in Salem, a Carver storyline with some bite, and a redemption arc that might not go the way anyone expects. I’m in.
