AMC Networks drops a gripping first look at Dark Winds Season 4, as a high-stakes hunt for a missing Navajo girl pulls Leaphorn and Chee into dangerous new territory when the series returns Sunday, February 15, 2026, exclusively on AMC and AMC+.

AMC just dropped a teaser for Dark Winds Season 4, and it confirms the show will be back on Sunday, February 15, 2026, exclusively on AMC and AMC+. Yes, 2026. Long wait, but we finally have a first look at where this thing is headed.

So what are we walking into?

This season pivots to a high-stakes missing-person case that pulls our core trio far from home. Leaphorn, Chee, and Bernadette Manuelito leave the Navajo Nation and land in 1970s Los Angeles, chasing a lead on a young Navajo girl who has vanished. The catch: the main suspect is an obsessive killer with organized crime ties. In other words, their quiet desert instincts are about to get stress-tested in a city that does not play nice.

"Season 4 focuses on the search for a missing Navajo girl" that drags the team into "the gritty terrain of 1970s Los Angeles."

What the teaser actually shows

It tees up the case and the stakes fast: the Tribal Police follow the trail west, and the cutaways make it very clear what happens if they do not find her in time. There are flashes of street-level danger, quick bursts of action, and just enough menace to suggest this killer is not freelance. It is a shift in vibe for the series, and kind of a fun one: fish-out-of-water detectives in a sprawling, grimy LA that looks ready to swallow them whole.

  • Returning cast: Zahn McClarnon as Joe Leaphorn, Kiowa Gordon as Jim Chee, Jessica Matten as Bernadette Manuelito, Deanna Allison as Emma
  • New this season: Franka Potente (The Bridge), Isabel DeRoy-Olson (Three Pines), Chaske Spencer (The English), Luke Barnett (For All Mankind), Titus Welliver (Bosch: Legacy)
  • Behind the scenes: Series creator and EP Graham Roland adapts Tony Hillerman's Leaphorn & Chee novels; Zahn McClarnon also executive produces alongside George R.R. Martin, Robert Redford, Anne Hillerman, Chris Eyre, Vince Gerardis, and Tina Elmo

One more thing

Since premiering in 2022, Dark Winds has somehow kept a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. That is rare, and it definitely raises the bar for this LA detour.

Dark Winds Season 4 premieres Sunday, February 15, 2026 on AMC and AMC+. If the teaser is any clue, the show is going bigger, grimier, and faster this time around.
