Charlie Cox shuts down a wild Daredevil: Born Again theory, finally settling a key character’s fate that’s fueled speculation since the premiere—just as Season 2 approaches on Disney+.

If you were still clinging to the Foggy-is-secretly-alive theory after Daredevil: Born Again opened with that gut-punch, Charlie Cox just dumped a bucket of cold water on it.

Cox finally says it out loud

At a recent convention Q&A, a clip that started making the rounds on November 24, 2025 (via ComicBookMovie.com) shows Cox smiling as he shuts the door on the speculation once and for all.

"Daredevil heard his heart stop. He's dead."

"I'm sorry. I'm very sad. I love that theory, but it's wrong."

So yeah, no witness protection twist, no clever off-screen swap, no multiverse mulligan. He said it with a grin, but the message is pretty blunt.

What the show actually does

  • In the first episode of the Disney+ series, Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) is killed. Dex Poindexter, better known as Bullseye, pulls the trigger.
  • Dex is operating under the manipulation of Vanessa Fisk, who is married to Wilson Fisk (the city's favorite crime lord). That reveal comes early and sets a darker tone for the season.
  • Foggy's death rocks Matt Murdock and Karen Page and becomes the emotional spine of the story moving forward.

Why fans thought he might still pop up

Marvel has trained everyone to look for trap doors. Characters come back. Universes fold in on themselves. Spider-Men swing in from other timelines. So when Foggy went down, theories popped up immediately: decoy body, hidden safe house, some Fisk-adjacent long con. If you were holding out for any of that, Cox just took it off the board.

No misdirects here

Cox emphasized that Foggy's death isn't a trick. As far as the current season's continuity is concerned, it's final. That lines up with how the show has been using it: as a catalyst for Matt and Karen, not a setup for a third-act reversal.

Where the story goes now

Born Again moves ahead without Foggy. Matt's path forward leans on Karen Page and other uneasy allies, potentially including the Punisher, with Jon Bernthal in the mix.
