Fans aren't sure if the actor is joking or not.

Without a doubt, the Harry Potter saga remains one of Hollywood's most popular and revered franchises, and for better or worse, Daniel Radcliffe will always be associated with the boy who lived. Even though the actor stopped playing Potter more than a decade ago and has since gone on to star in numerous successful movies, fans still ask him about his time filming the franchise and hope to see the actor involved in upcoming Wizarding World projects.

However, Radcliffe apparently has no intention to return to the magical world, and with HBO Max's upcoming reboot of the Harry Potter story, it looks like the actor will finally be able to distance himself from the role that once made him famous.

The Harry Potter TV reboot, which was announced in April of this year, will tell Potter's story from the very beginning, with each season focusing on just one book in J. K. Rowling's novel cycle. It's not hard to see why fans of the original books are already crazy about the upcoming show, hoping to see the original material adapted as faithfully as possible.

However, the new series has not even started casting yet, so people are wondering who will play Harry, Ron, and Hermione, with numerous actors being mentioned as possible frontrunners for the roles. Obviously, the actors who will be cast to play the characters must be very young, as the original books began when Harry was just 11 years old.

With that in mind, it looks like Daniel Radcliffe has decided to tease his fans a bit by describing an older actor as the best person to succeed him as Harry Potter.

'I feel like Elijah Wood gets recognized as me so much that he may as well have a go at playing the part,' Radcliffe said.

Of course, it's highly unlikely that HBO will cast the 42-year-old actor to play an 11-year-old wizard in the reboot show, but fans were still happy to hear such a response from Radcliffe, who is clearly poking fun at the whole situation.

Anyway, many are hoping that Radcliffe could return to Hogwarts and sign on to play one of the show's professors — or even take on a juicier role like Sirius Black or Remus Lupin.
