The actor has a better way to dispose of his fortune in mind.

Summary

  • The James Bond franchise made Daniel Craig rich and famous.
  • The actor often comes across as old-fashioned.
  • Craig finds inheritance 'distasteful.'

It's been over two years since No Time to Die premiered in theaters worldwide, yet the film is still fondly remembered by legions of fans. Arguably, the main reason for that is that it's the final James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig, who appeared as the super chill spy in five installments of the beloved franchise.

His portrayal of the iconic spy made Daniel Craig a globally recognized A-lister. More importantly, the role has significantly increased his wealth, bringing him millions of dollars. Craig's net worth is currently estimated at a staggering $160 million. Surprisingly, the actor has no plans of leaving this fortune to his children.

Orthodox Opinion

A key reason people love Daniel Craig so much is that he always looks stylish. You'd be hard-pressed to find a photo of him looking disheveled (of course, hard-pressed doesn't mean impossible – seek and you shall find). This traditional image he projected in his most popular role has become so familiar that we've come to see the actor himself as an old-fashioned gentleman. What's interesting is that Craig's conservatism goes far beyond his looks.

His take on wealth deserves special mention. It is his opinion that a person's wealth should not outlive its owner.

'Isn't there an old adage that if you die a rich person, you've failed?' the actor retorted to a reporter's question about how much money he was going to leave to his daughters in his will.

Actor Disapproves of Inheritance

The former Bond actor cited Andrew Carnegie's biography, pointing out that the famous businessman did a great deal of good with his wealth without leaving his family in poverty. Craig views that as the best way to manage one's fortune.

'I don't want to leave great sums to the next generation. I think inheritance is quite distasteful. My philosophy is get rid of it or give it away before you go,' he said in the interview.

Naturally, it's a bit too soon to praise or condemn Daniel Craig for what he might do with his money. Still, his intentions seem to be highly commendable.
