Crunchyroll Unveils Anime’s Spotify Wrapped — And It Comes With Your Own Spirit Companion
Breakout hits, theatrical comebacks, and streaming shake-ups—2025 is rewriting anime. How has your journey changed with it?
Crunchyroll just rolled out its own version of a year-end wrap, and yes, it is exactly what you think. If you have a subscription, you can now get your 2025 viewing breakdown, share the pretty cards on social, and find out what 'type' of anime fan you apparently are. There is also a little mascot buddy attached to your results, because of course there is.
So what is Crunchyroll Arc?
It is a personalized recap built from everything you watched this year: most-watched series, total hours streamed, longest streak, and how your stats stack up against everyone else on the platform. If you like the whole Wrapped ritual, this is that, with more kanji.
Crunchyroll calls it a 'personalized experience based on the anime that you loved to watch over the past year'.
How to actually get yours
- Update to the latest version of the Crunchyroll app on your phone.
- You need to be a Premium subscriber from before December 1.
- You also have to meet 'specific content engagement requirements' — translation: if you barely watched anything, the recap may not generate properly.
- It is live now and viewable until January 5, so do it before it disappears.
Yes, you get a 'spirit companion'
Your Arc comes with a little digital sidekick tied to your viewing habits. Names on the menu include 'Sage Puff', 'Wandering Neko', and 'Bonehead Brawler', with more variations in the mix. Is it a little corny? Sure. Will I judge you if you end up bonded with a Wandering Neko? Absolutely not.
What will probably show up in your rankings
Expect this year’s big hitters to pop up all over the place:
'My Hero Academia' season 8 closed out the long-running superhero saga. 'Solo Leveling' season 2 kept smashing records. 'Dan Da Dan' season 2 turned into a breakout favorite. And even though it is not on Crunchyroll (yet), 'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle' bulldozed 2025 at the box office — it is now the highest-grossing anime movie ever, outdrawing Hollywood titles like 'Superman' and 'Fantastic Four: First Steps'.
The bigger picture
2025 was massive for anime, and the momentum is still going. January 2026 kicks off with 'Jujutsu Kaisen' season 3 and the second season of 'Frieren: Beyond Journey's End' — not exactly a soft start to the year.
