The endgame is here: Stranger Things season 5 episode 8, Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up, closes the series as Eleven and the gang plunge into the Upside Down—get the release date, drop time, and where to watch.

Stranger Things is finally closing the gate. The series finale, Season 5, Episode 8, is locked in for the last day of 2025, and yes, they called it 'Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up.' New Year's Eve plans: Hawkins, again.

When does the series finale drop?

Season 5, Episode 8 is the eighth and final chapter of the show. It lands on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

In the U.S., Netflix flips the switch at:

  • 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday, December 31, 2025
  • 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, December 31, 2025

Where to watch

The finale streams on Netflix. There's no free trial, so you'll need a subscription to press play. Netflix being Netflix, it also has a ton of other big titles if you're browsing between rewatch sessions: think Bridgerton, The Crown, and Money Heist alongside its usual mountain of originals.

What to expect

This is the endgame. Eleven and the crew head back into the Upside Down for one last swing at Vecna, trying to keep Hawkins from becoming a permanent horror show. The fifth season brings the core lineup back together, including Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Gaten Matarazzo, and Joe Keery, among others.

If you need a quick refresher on how this all started: a kid disappeared, shady experiments bubbled under a small town, supernatural nightmares bled through the walls, and a mysterious girl with serious powers changed everything. From there, the show snowballed into the globally loved sci-fi horror ride it is now.
