Chris Messina is circling a role in HBO’s The White Lotus for its highly anticipated fourth season, potentially adding more star power to the hit series’ next exotic chapter.

Looks like the guest list at 'The White Lotus' might get even more interesting next season. Chris Messina—yeah, the guy from 'The Mindy Project' and, if you have good taste, 'Six Feet Under'—is reportedly circling a spot at the HBO resort for Season 4. This isn't a done deal just yet, but apparently he's very much into the idea and the offer's on the table, according to those in-the-know types at Deadline.

Now, we've all seen how this show picks its new vacation spot every year, and honestly, the locations are half the reason to tune in (well, that and the gloriously awkward rich-people drama). This time around, we're leaving behind Sicilian cliffs and Thai beaches for something that screams old-money Euro-luxury: Season 4 is heading to France. Specifically, they'll be setting up shop at the Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez—which, by the way, is a 19th-century palace that's now a fancy hotel. If you're picturing sun, rosé, and wildly expensive pool floats, you're probably close.

Who's Checking In This Season?

  • Alexander Ludwig from 'Vikings' has signed on, so expect someone who looks like they could (and possibly should) start a beach brawl at any moment.
  • AJ Michalka of 'The Goldbergs' fame is also joining the fold, so we're covering a lot of demo bases.
  • Helena Bonham Carter may or may not be onboard—they're still working out the details, and HBO's being cagey with confirmation. If she joins, you know the chaos potential just went up a notch.
  • And of course, possibly Chris Messina, which would make for a stellar mix.

If you've been keeping count, that's already a pretty solid, eclectic group—even if we're still living off rumors for a couple of them.

What To Expect This Time

Series creator Mike White has made it pretty clear he's not done throwing this cast of privileged weirdos into uncomfortable (and sometimes fatal) situations. Last year, he teased:

'For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular, but there's always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.'

Translation: get ready for more beautiful views, awkward secrets, and at least one storyline that will have you re-thinking travel insurance.

Why Are People Still Watching?

Not to get all reviewer-y, but folks really liked last season. Our resident reviewer Alex Maidy actually went as far as to call Season 3 'as good, if not better, than it has ever been.' In his words: the show’s not as straight-up funny as the original, but the 'darkly dramatic side of secrets and lies' is still running strong: families, friends, and all their disasters.

If you loved the first two seasons, brace yourself—reportedly, jaws drop for this new batch of episodes. Apparently, Mike White keeps surprising his own fans and manages to keep leveling up. (Maidy swears the third season is the best one to date and can’t wait to see how it ends.)

So, in short: Chris Messina might join, the setting is swanky French, and if you like your TV escapist with a side of disaster, this vacation is still a safe bet. More on when that Messina deal closes—or when someone finally gets Helena Bonham Carter on a yacht.
