Chance Won't Last Long on The Voice, and The Reason is Heartbreaking
It looks like Chance the Rapper won't be on a reality show for long, and here's why.
The NBC show The Voice has been around for 23 seasons now, and its popularity isn't waning anytime soon. While the main reason the current season may be one of the most watched in recent memory is Blake Shelton's eventual departure from the show as a judge, some are also curious about Chance the Rapper joining the show's panel, expecting something special from the talented performer and producer.
And he certainly didn't disappoint fans with his first appearance, but some are already worried that he won't last long on The Voice.
Chance immediately proved himself to be a caring and attentive mentor to the singers, giving excellent feedback right from the start. And that's why fans are worried about him in the long run, arguing that with this approach to his judging duties, he may come into conflict with the whole idea of The Voice.
While other judges’ banter with each other, Chance is determined to help singers, not himself, coach them and not interact with his colleagues.
It should not be forgotten that The Voice as it stands is more about the judges than the contestants, as sad as that may sound. While Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson are well aware of this, interacting with each other more than the contestants, Chance refuses to play that role, focusing more on producing and nurturing talent.
While this approach is certainly appreciated by fans, it can be heartbreaking for both them and Chance, as The Voice show is simply not designed for this mentality, with plenty of great singers being sent home each week after one failed performance.
As a producer, Chance is well aware that everyone deserves a proper chance to be a star, and when he realizes that The Voice can't give that to its contestants, he may end up leaving the show in a heartbeat, as Ariana Grande did before him.
