Chainsaw Man Movie Hides a Smart Attack on Titan Easter Egg from the Studio That Closed the Saga
Eagle-eyed viewers have spotted a sly Attack on Titan Easter egg tucked into the Chainsaw Man movie—hiding in plain sight the whole time.
Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc is already a win at the box office, and now fans have spotted a little extra for the eagle-eyed: a background nod to Attack on Titan tucked into one of the early scenes.
The blink-and-you-miss-it nod
During the theater sequence with Denji and Makima, a guy in the crowd is rocking a dark blue T-shirt with a small silver patch. Look closely and you can make out the stylized blue-and-white wings — basically the Survey Corps emblem, aka the Wings of Freedom, from Attack on Titan.
'Maybe you didn't notice, but there was a small reference to Attack on Titan in the Chainsaw Man movie,' one fan posted on Twitter, pointing to the theater scene with Denji and Makima.
Another fan followed up with a screenshot on October 28, 2025. Even without crisp detail, the badge shape and those wing colors are pretty unmistakable. It's subtle, but it's there.
Why it tracks
This isn't exactly shocking if you know the studio history. MAPPA animated the final season of Attack on Titan, so tossing in a tiny emblem feels like a studio in-joke and a tip of the hat to their own recent past. For context: Attack on Titan ran for nearly a decade, split its final season into four parts, and wrapped in November 2023.
And in case you're wondering — no, this doesn't mean the two universes connect. Chainsaw Man is set in the 90s; Attack on Titan takes place in a separate, quasi-historical world. There's never been a narrative link, so treat this as what it is: a quiet tribute.
Where the movie fits
This film kicks off a planned trilogy and picks up Denji's story after season 1. It adapts the Bomb Girl Arc from the manga: Denji crosses paths with Reze right after finally getting close to his dream girl, Makima, and — surprise — things implode into a dangerous love triangle.
The reception
Reze Arc debuted with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, steamrolled a bunch of records, and landed at number 1 at the US box office in its opening weekend. Not bad for a first chapter.
