All celebrities have hordes of fans. While popularity has a lot of benefits, it also has some very serious drawbacks. First and foremost, it often violates your privacy. But more importantly, it can manifest itself in a rather dangerous way – stalking – as some fans may adore a certain star a little too much.
As a result, it is not uncommon for a celebrity to file a restraining order against an overzealous fan. For example, you may remember the scandal in 1999 when a young woman was found in Brad Pitt's Los Angeles home. The perpetrator was reportedly wearing the star's clothes and sleeping in his bed. The same thing happened to Pamela Anderson and Robert Pattinson. But apparently celebrities can be stalkers themselves, albeit in a milder form.
Olivia Rodrigo Is Prone to Stalk Her Exes on Social Media
Before appearing on the latest episode of SNL, the actress and musician, who released her latest album Guts and wrote the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, sat down with Jimmy Fallon this week and revealed why she doesn't follow anyone on social media. Admittedly, she does have a problem, and it's not just about limiting her time in front of a screen – Olivia Rodrigo has a tendency to stalk her exes online.
'I try to follow zero people because it helps me be off of my phone, you know, off of social media. But I had this very embarrassing encounter once, where I was stalking my ex, as one does – sue me, sorry – and I accidentally followed him, because I was stalking him, and I was just following one person, so it was super obvious that I was following him,' the artist said in that interview.
An Unabashed Stalker
According to Rodrigo, the incident was further complicated by the fact that her phone died the moment she realized she was following her ex on Instagram. As a result, she couldn't help but follow him for a while. However, when an opportunity presented itself, the singer came out of the situation clean.
'People were like, "Oh, my gosh! She's hacked!" And I'm like, "Yeah, you guys, be safe. Get your two-factor authentication, you guys,"' Olivia Rodrigo shared how she handled the incident.
After all, it's only human to be curious about the people you care about. And as long as it doesn't hurt anyone, it's perfectly fine, and Olivia Rodrigo's self-described 'stalking' doesn't seem to be hurting anyone. In fact, it just makes the singer more relatable, and we love her for that.
