Carrie's Dating Hall of Shame: Sex & the City's 6 Worst Boyfriends, Ranked
Sarah Jessica Parker's character was actually pretty unlucky in her love life.
Celebrating 25 years since its premiere, Sex and the City remains one of the world's most famous shows, while its sequel, And Just Like That…, is keeping fans engaged, releasing Season 2 in just a couple of weeks. The franchise's central character, Carrie Bradshaw, had a whopping 28 romantic partners during her time on the original show, and some of them were rather hideous.
Here are Carrie's six worst boyfriends, ranked. Can you guess who tops the list?
6. Howie Halberstein
Sarah Jessica Parker's character met Howie at Charlotte's wedding where he was the best man to Harry. Essentially, Carrie misled him, as she only intended to have some fun, but Howie lost his mind over it, publicly dropping a B-bomb on her during his speech at the ceremony.
Arguably, it was partly Carrie's fault, which is why the man isn't the worst.
5. Wade Adams
Carrie fell for the comics shop clerk because he made her feel younger — like she was back in highschool. Completely blindsided by his immaturity, she did not expect Wade to put the blame on her when his parents caught them smoking pot at their house. But despite his child-like behavior, Wade was pretty hot.
4. Aidan Shaw
Yes, Aidan was very charming, kind, and loving — but sadly, he didn't seem right for Carrie during their time together in Sex and the City. Over the course of their relationship, Carrie grew selfish and contemptuous, while Aidan also became more irritable and authoritative. Perhaps the two needed to part ways to eventually meet again and reignite their romance.
3. Jack Berger
A slave to his insecurity, Jack Berger hurt Carrie in many ways. He was a spoiled man-child who didn't care for other people's feelings and wishes. In his relationship with Carrie, he was also extremely jealous and unsupportive. But worst of all, he was vengeful and haunted her after their breakup.
2. Alexander Petrovsky
A man from a romance novel, the smart Russian businessman seemed like a dream to Carrie. But it didn't take her long to realize that, just like in a dream, she wasn't real when around him. Alexander was a demanding man, dictating Carrie to follow certain rules to meet his expectations.
But on the bright side, he was always honest with Carrie about his thoughts and intentions.
1. Mr. Big
The most toxic boyfriend of Carrie's, Mr. Big was passive-aggressive and avoided real intimacy. Moreover, he was reluctant to grow up and change, which may be one of the reasons he cheated on his girlfriend. Despite Mr. Big being the endgame, this relationship didn't benefit Carrie in any way, as she was submissive and meek around the man.
Sarah Jessica Parker's character is expected to reunite with many fans' favorite Aidan Shaw in the Sex and the City sequel series, And Just Like That… The second season will premiere on HBO Max on June 22, 2023.
