Stop the slog—pick the right modes and settings in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and you’ll turbocharge weapon XP, racing to every Prestige in a fraction of the time.

Leveling guns in Black Ops 7 Multiplayer can feel like pushing a boulder uphill if your setup is off and you spend matches in the wrong modes. If you want to hit every Weapon Prestige level without turning your brain to mush, here’s a clean, no-nonsense plan that actually speeds things up.

First, fix your visuals so you can actually see (and hit) things

Crank almost every graphics setting down to low. High FPS equals smoother tracking, quicker reactions, and more kills. It’s not glamorous, but it works. Set Field of View to 116 so you’re not tunnel-visioned, and turn off all motion blur so your picture stays sharp when you’re sliding, sprinting, or snapping to targets.

Then dial in your controller and assists

Yes, sensitivity is personal. But if the goal is faster kills and more weapon XP, start here and tweak as needed:

  • Horizontal Stick Sensitivity: 1.75
  • Vertical Stick Sensitivity: 1.70
  • Swap L1/R1 with L2/R2: On
  • Controller Vibration: Off
  • Left Stick Min: 7
  • Left Stick Max: 70
  • Right Stick Min: 3
  • Right Stick Max: 96
  • Left Trigger: 0
  • Right Trigger: 0
  • ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing: Instant
  • Aim Response Curve Type: Standard
  • Sprint Assist: Off
  • Mantle Assist: Off
  • Crouch Assist: Off
  • Corner Slice: Off
  • Wall Jump Assist: Off
  • Combat Roll Assist: Off
  • Automatic Airborne Mantle: On
  • Sprint Restore: On
  • Slide Maintains Sprint: On
  • Parachute Automatic Behavior: Always
  • Wingsuit Activation: Manual
  • Wall Jump Activation: Press
  • Slide/Combat Roll Behavior: Tap to Slide
  • Combat Roll Camera: 3rd Person
  • Sprint/Tactical Sprint Behavior: Toggle
  • Auto Move Forward: Off
  • Auto Door Peek: Off
  • Tactical Sprint Activation: Single Tap Sprint
  • Plunging Underwater: Trigger
  • Sprinting Door Bash: On
  • Weapon Mount Activation: ADS + Melee
  • Dedicated Melee Weapon Activation: Hold Melee
  • Body Shield/Finishing Move Behavior: Prioritize Finishing Move

With this setup, you should land killstreaks more consistently and stay alive longer, which is exactly what you want for weapon XP to snowball.

Now pick modes that actually feed your weapon XP

You want high engagement, frequent fights, and lots of medal opportunities. In Core, jump into Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Search and Destroy, and Team Deathmatch. In Hardcore, go for Hardcore Kill Confirmed, Hardcore Hardpoint, Hardcore Domination, and the Hardcore Core Moshpit. These playlists put bodies in front of you fast, which means your guns level faster. Simple math.

Use the right guns for the lobby you’re in

If you’re farming weapon levels, SMGs are your friend. In Core, the RK-9 is a great pick. In Hardcore, the Dravec 45 or the Ryden 45K delete people fast. If you’re not an SMG person, the M8A1 assault rifle is a solid alternative for racking up kills. You can absolutely use whatever you like, but these hit the sweet spot in the modes above.

Attachments and bonus XP

Go wild on attachments. In this setup, there aren’t downsides to what you put on, so tailor your build to your aim and playstyle. Just remember: you still have to hit shots. And if you’ve got Double XP cards burning a hole in your pocket, pop them during these sessions to squeeze more progress out of every match.

How’s Black Ops 7 Multiplayer treating you so far? If you’ve found a mode or build that levels weapons even faster, drop it in the comments. I’m listening.
