Bridgerton Theory Has Us Hopeful for Season 3 December Release

Bridgerton has been the subject of many fan theories and heated debates online, from potential storylines to new character introductions, but there is one thing everyone is always talking about: The Bridgerton season 3 release date.

Will season 3 premier on 14 December?

There are so many factors that could be affecting the official release date, but also one strong theory that considers all the facts.

First came the ‘leak’ by Netflix Portugal, who accidentally revealed the official release date on a post to their Instagram account, which featured a photo of Penelope, with the caption, “How we missed this gossip. Season three of Bridgerton premieres December 14. #TUDUM”

The ‘leak’ was posted at almost the same time as the Netflix Tudum festival, which took place in mid June this year. Fans were hoping to see a teaser or first look for Bridgeton season 3, but only got a few stills.

But why? Well, one fan on Reddit has a theory, and it's that the 14 December release date is true, and that the 2023 Tudum Festival was too early to release the clips.

The 2022 Tudum festival took place in September and shared a first look clip for Bridgerton season 2. The Redditor believes that no clip was shared this year because Tudum took place 3 months earlier than last year, which would have been too soon to share that kind of content. Also, with the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, Netflix may have been trying to save teaser content for later dates in case of a delay.

However, the same fan pointed out that despite the ongoing strikes, Netflix has been releasing their series on schedule, and that Netflix Portugal having the date and creating an official poster points to the fact that Bridgerton season 3 is ready for release or in the final stages of completion, which includes the season being translated into all the languages Netflix covers.

Netflix Portugal would not have been preparing an official post along with the photo of Penelope if Netflix as a whole was not on track for the release date mentioned in the leak. We didn’t get to see any exciting content at Tudum because the December 14 release date would have made Tudum too early in the year to release teaser content.

All signs point to December 14 being the release date, but we’ll only know for sure when Netflix releases an official update, and we’re hoping it’s going to be the December date announcement.
