Bridgerton: the Real Reason Behind Phoebe Dynevor's Departure
It looks like the reason for Phoebe's departure has nothing to do with vanity or behind-the-scenes problems.
Netflix's Bridgerton became one of the biggest surprise hits of 2020, as no one could have predicted that a historical romance drama based on Julia Quinn's books would become the comfort show we all desperately needed in that harsh pandemic year.
And no one benefited more from its first season's success than Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page. Portraying Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset, the season's central romantic couple, the two actors became stars as soon as Bridgerton hit the streaming service.
Of course, both immediately attracted the industry's attention and received offers to star in other productions. After Season 1, Page refused to reprise his role in the second installment of Bridgerton, deciding to focus on his solo career instead. As for Dynevor, she popped in for a few episodes in Season 2, but the actress recently announced that she would not be returning for the upcoming third season, and fans are dying to know why.
It looks like the answer to that is pretty simple because, just like her co-star, Phoebe preferred to sign on for other projects. And one of them, Neil Burger's spy thriller The Inheritance, actually overlapped with the production of the third season of Bridgerton, as the actress was committed to filming the movie throughout the summer of 2022.
What's more, The Inheritance is by no means an easy project — the filming required Dynevor to travel all over the world, shooting in Cairo, Delhi, and Seoul, among other places. It's no wonder that she simply couldn't find the time to drop by and shoot a few scenes for Bridgerton.
Besides, considering that her character's storyline was already wrapped up in Season 1, no one can blame her for leaving the show.
However, the fact that Phoebe won't be appearing in the third season does not mean that she has left Bridgerton for good. In fact, the actress has commented that the door is always open for her to return to the show.
And while fans await the release of the next chapter of Bridgerton, Phoebe will continue to star in other series and movies, cementing her status as one of the best up-and-coming actresses in Hollywood.
