How many seasons do you think Bridgerton will have?

‘Esteemed member of the Ton, it seems we have a rather special announcement. Bridgerton shall return for seasons three and four. The author shall have to purchase more ink... Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown.’

That announcement brought joy to the Bridgerton fandom in April 2021. The beloved show, which already had millions of fans, had been renewed for two more seasons, a fact that was met with immense relief and celebration.

However, as time passed and Season 2 ended, die-hard fans began to wonder if they would get to see all eight Bridgertons find their true love. After all, the show's source material, Julia Quinn's romance novel series, consists of eight books that cover the stories of all the siblings, from A to H.

With streaming services like Netflix, the question of shows getting renewed has been very much on the table lately. The giant streaming service cancelled some highly anticipated original shows not long ago due to a mismatch between their budget and ratings. Therefore, Bridgerton fans have every reason to worry about the future of the Shonda Rhimes series, particularly as the gaps between seasons are becoming increasingly longer.

‘They're dragging their feet with seasons, and people tend to move on to other things if there's a big enough gap,’ a fan wrote on Reddit, adding that they expect to see a 4-5 season show.

The main concern among fans seems to be that if the breaks between Bridgerton seasons continue to extend beyond a year, which, let's face it, is likely, the show will lose popularity and ratings by Season 5. However, as demonstrated by Grey's Anatomy, Shondaland has plenty of experience keeping up good ratings for years.

If the quality of the writing does not decline over time, Bridgerton has every chance of following in Grey's footsteps, telling all of Quinn's stories and possibly more. Shonda Rhimes seems determined about this. The showrunner told Variety that her plans for Bridgerton extend well beyond the announced seasons.

‘There are eight Bridgerton siblings, and as far as I’m concerned, there are eight ‘Bridgerton’ seasons. And maybe more,’ she said.

We sure do like the sound of that. Let's hope the iconic writer knows what she's doing and makes good on her promise.
