Brian Cox Reveals Why Succession's Final Season Isn't On His Watchlist
It looks like the veteran actor has no interest in the show other than a professional one.
For three seasons, Brian Cox's Logan Roy was the centerpiece of Succession, a force that dictated the decisions of all the other characters on the show. Although it was expected that he would die at some point during the series, as even the show's title hinted at it, Logan's sudden demise in the middle of Episode 3 of Season 4 came as a surprise to many viewers, who thought the finale would be a more fitting place to conclude his story.
Even though the final season of Succession turned out to be one of the best in the show's history, that doesn't mean that Cox himself watched all of the episodes — and here's why.
According to the actor, he was always against watching his own work, as he said it was rather strange to see another version of himself on screen. Nevertheless, Cox did watch Succession for three seasons in a row, only to be stopped in his tracks the moment Logan died.
For the actor, the entire storyline of the show revolved around his own character, so he saw no point in continuing following the show onwards.
'Because of what happened to Logan, I've been disinclined to watch. I knew how it was going to end because I knew that Logan would have already set it up. So, I gather, in the end, Logan's ultimately won through — even though he's in the grave. It's a strange situation. I don't cling on to things. When it's over, it's over, and I go on,' Cox said.
So it seems that the actor was a little hurt by his character's untimely passing and refused to watch the show without him as its centerpiece. In any case, Cox is surely more than happy about his time on the set of Succession, as his performance earned him his first Golden Globe Award and two Emmy nominations.
With the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards in the near future, fans are wondering if three episodes of acting will allow Brian Cox to score his third nomination for Succession.
