Aaron Paul is the cosmic liaison for two episodes of Black Mirror.

Four years after its last chapter came out, Season 6 of Black Mirror finally reached our small screens, delighting fans with more dark episodes exploring the effect of modern technology on human morality and psyche. In the new season, creator Charlie Brooker takes an even deeper dive into the issues of technophobia and the ethics of dealing with rapidly evolving technology.

Even though Black Mirror is an anthology series, viewers have always wondered whether some of its chapters are interconnected and take place in the same universe. Fans have voiced different theories based on Easter eggs and other clues found in some episodes, and now, after seeing a new episode starring Aaron Paul, many are convinced that at least two episodes of Black Mirror are interconnected.

The star of Breaking Bad and Westworld appears in the third episode of the new season, titled 'Beyond the Sea.' In the story, he plays astronaut Cliff, wandering the universe on a six-year mission in an alternate 1969.

Cliff and his colleague David (Josh Hartnett) can transfer their consciousness into their robotic counterparts on Earth and live their normal lives there, while returning to their bodies only when something serious happens on the spaceship and their presence is required. Of course, as typical of Black Mirror, this does not end well for the two astronauts.

Upon viewing the episode, many fans noted that the events may take place in the same universe as 'USS Callister,' the first episode of Black Mirror Season 4. While the space setting there is revealed to be part of the MMORPG called Infinity, at the end of the episode, we can hear the voice of a disgruntled player, ready to blow up the protagonists' spaceship. And that voice belongs to none other than Aaron Paul!

It looks like fans have a good reason to believe that the two episodes indeed share the same universe. However, the only problem with this theory is that 'Beyond the Sea' takes place in 1969, while 'USS Callister' is set in the near future. Well, maybe in Season 4, we heard the voice of older Cliff who decided to reminisce about his past by playing Infinity?
