Black Doves Season 2: Meet the New Faces Shaking Up the Cast
Black Doves is loading up on star power for Season 2, with Ambika Mod, Babou Ceesay, Sam Riley, Neve Campbell, Sylvia Hoeks, Samuel Barnett, and Goran Kostić joining Netflix’s twisty thriller for a sharper, deadlier new chapter.
Netflix is back in the Black Doves business. Cameras are rolling in London, the cast just leveled up, and Season 2 sounds like it plans to mess with everybody’s nerves again — in a good way.
What Season 2 is actually about
We pick up with Helen (Keira Knightley) still slipping state secrets to a shadowy outfit, which was already dicey in Season 1. Now it’s even worse: after the finale’s blowback, her husband is suddenly on the edge of becoming prime minister. That is... not a low-stress situation. Expect a lot of careful lying, riskier moves, and bigger consequences.
New faces joining the chaos
- Ambika Mod as Laila — a sharp-tongued Black Doves agent sent in to back up Helen
- Babou Ceesay as Mr. Conteh — a Black Doves executive whose motives are, let’s say, not crystal clear
- Sam Riley as Patrick — an envoy from a mysterious organization who offers Sam a lifeline (yes, that Sam — Ben Whishaw’s character)
- Neve Campbell as Cecile Mason
- Sylvia Hoeks as Katia Chernov
- Goran Kostic as Alexi Chernov
- Samuel Barnett as Jerry
That’s a stacked bench on top of the returning leads: Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, and Sarah Lancashire are all back. Also returning: Kathryn Hunter, Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy, Agnes O'Casey, and Molly Chesworth.
Filming is underway in London
Production kicked off this week, and Netflix is already calling this season bigger and bolder. Creator Joe Barton is clearly happy to be back in the sandbox, teasing more twists and leaning into the show’s happily messy spy-family energy.
'Season 2 is bigger, bolder - and just as delightfully unpredictable.'
That line comes from executive producers Jane Featherstone and Chris Fry, who also promised returning favorites, sharp new additions, and a few well-timed surprises. Translation: do not get comfortable.
When can we watch it?
No release date yet — Netflix is keeping that close for now. For context, Season 1 dropped in December 2024, pulled a 92% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, and the streamer actually renewed the series for Season 2 before the show even premiered. Confident move, and based on this lineup, understandable.
Black Doves is streaming on Netflix.
