He's the one we sympathize with most.

During its six seasons, Young Sheldon has managed to masterfully flesh out its characters, making them complex and relatable to viewers. This stands true not only for the main ones, but also for secondary characters.

For example, Brenda Sparks has come a long way from making sporadic appearances on the show to becoming one of the plot-defining characters, winning over the audience with her kindness and charisma.

At the same time, her son Billy appears to be the most unfortunate character on Young Sheldon. This is particularly evident if we compare him with the Coopers' kids — Sheldon is a genius, Missy is smart and popular with peers, and Georgie makes good money and is loved by women. In contrast, Billy seems to be the ultimate loser who doesn't have good looks, talents, or smarts.

Billy is undeservedly looked down upon by everybody on the show. He is treated awfully by other characters, especially by the Cooper twins. Sheldon uses him as a dummy to learn to talk to 'stupid' people, and Missy is clearly embarrassed when Billy asks her out and rejects him right away.

Later on the show, Missy suggests they go to the movies together but then bails on Billy, accepting an invitation to a party with cool kids. As a true gentleman, Billy doesn't get mad and just agrees she should go.

However, the saddest thing is that Billy's own mother acknowledges his 'inferiority' and doesn't really try to inspire him to achieve more. Brenda recognizes that her son is not as smart or good-looking as other kids, and though she obviously loves him, she could still be more supportive of Billy. Perhaps that's as little as he needs to become more successful in the future?

Besides, Billy is not actually stupid. Even though he struggles academically, he understands people's behavior better than the Coopers' kids. And he's very observant — for instance, he noticed there's something between Brenda and George long before the issue surfaced. Billy is also naturally inquisitive and prompts Sheldon to contemplate the concept of zero in Season 6.

All in all, fans think that Billy deserves a lot more screen time and development than he is currently getting. Hopefully, the show's writers will realize this and unlock the character's potential in the upcoming Season 7!
