With the creators sharing some upbeat updates, The Boys Mexico is picking up steam—and this latest news could mean even wilder stories are on the way.

Good news for anyone hoping The Boys keeps getting weirder in more places: The Boys: Mexico is moving, and the early word from the top is pretty upbeat.

Kripke says the Mexico pilot is cooking

On the red carpet for the Gen V Season 2 premiere, showrunner Eric Kripke told Collider that the spin-off is in the pilot phase right now. Translation: it is not a series order yet, but it is a real thing being worked on, and he sounds happy with where it is.

"The pilot of The Boys: Mexico is being developed right now... It's our world but a totally different tone, and it's super fun. Gael and Diego are executive producers... I think the script is good."

He also did the usual TV caveat of 'you never know' at this stage, which is fair. Still, 'script is good' is the kind of update you want to hear.

What this spin-off actually is (so far)

Prime Video announced The Boys: Mexico in 2023 as a new entry in the same gloriously nasty superhero universe created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, but set in a different place with its own vibe. Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is running the show and writing it. Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna are on board as executive producers, and per Kripke, they are not just names on a press release — they are actively involved. The goal sounds like: same world, fresh tone.

Where it fits in the Boys-verse right now

  • The Boys (2019): the flagship series is gearing up for its fifth and final season.
  • The Boys Presents: Diabolical (2022): the animated anthology spin-off.
  • Gen V: the live-action college-set series is headed into Season 2.
  • Vought Rising: a prequel currently in production, with Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash back as Soldier Boy and Stormfront.
  • The Boys: Mexico: pilot script written, pilot in development, Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna executive producing, Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer serving as showrunner and writer. No premiere date yet, and no series order announced.

Bottom line: even as The Boys proper aims for the end with Season 5, Prime Video is keeping this universe alive. If Kripke's upbeat early read holds, The Boys: Mexico could be the next big expansion — different flavor, same messed-up world. We are still in wait-and-see mode on timing.
