Big Bang Theory Star Makes a Splash on The Neighborhood
One of TBBT's fan-favorite characters is capturing the hearts of all sitcom fans again — this time without the rhotacism, though.
CBS's The Neighborhood follows the story of a typical white family from Michigan as they adjust to their new realities after moving to a predominantly black neighborhood of Pasadena, California.
Since its release in 2018, the series has been popular with viewers, who enjoyed the writing and the excellent performances from the cast members, many of whom previously starred in other popular shows. In particular, you may remember one of The Neighborhood actors from his role in the cult comedy show The Big Bang Theory.
In the fifth season of The Neighborhood, we get to meet Dave's new boss, Gregory, played by John Ross Bowie. As a typical boss character, Gregory likes to keep the budgets tight and isn't willing to increase Dave's salary.
He is a source of many jokes and hilarious situations, which is why Bowie's character was a fan favorite throughout the whole season.
And what's more, many viewers noted that his face looks familiar and wondered where they might have seen the actor. Well, it turns out that Bowie played a colleague of Leonard and Sheldon on TBBT — Barry Kripke, best remembered for his peculiar case of rhotacism.
Kripke appeared as a minor character in the second season of TBBT but became so popular that he was featured in the show until its final season, where he appeared one last time in the penultimate episode to prank his old 'frenemy' Sheldon by calling him to tell he won the Nobel Prize.
The actor himself is also known for other cult shows he has starred in, such as Speechless and United States of Al. In 2022, John Ross Bowie released his memoir No Job For a Man, which describes his career journey in the tough world of showbiz.
As a side note, The Neighborhood also boasts a few successful comic actors among its cast who, just like Bowie, took part in a number of popular TV and film projects. For instance, Cedric the Entertainer, playing Calvin Butler, appeared on The Steve Harvey Show and Barbershop, while Max Greenfield (Dave Johnson) is known for his roles on Ugly Betty and New Girl.
Be sure to see these and other talented actors in the next episode of The Neighborhood, which will arrive on CBS on May 1, 2023.
