Beth Dutton? More like Best Dutton: Lainey Wilson Dishes on Kelly Reilly's True Persona
Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) is notorious for bringing sass and attitude to Yellowstone.
The character is infamous for not backing down from anyone and telling more than a few men off who dare entertain her advances at the bar.
In general, Beth Dutton is not the type of person you want to f**k with.
However, off camera, Lainey Wilson - who recently joined the cast of season five - argues the opposite couldn't be true of Kelly Reilly's real-life persona. Wilson, who has been one of the few bright spots of an otherwise mundane season five of Yellowstone, portrays a character (Abby) who is gradually getting more comfortable with its lead star - John Dutton (Kevin Costner).
Of course, it means that Abby must also impress John's only daughter, Beth, which sometimes feels like confronting the impossible. Notwithstanding, Wilson argues the opposite couldn't be more true when dealing with Reilly off-set.
In fact, the 'Heart Like a Truck' singer confessed that her transition to TV was not an easy one. She may be one of the biggest stars in country music, but tackling acting was an entirely different animal.
Thus, when speaking with host Adison Haager on the Dutton Rules podcast, the singer-actress had many insights into what it's like working alongside Kevin Costner and Kelly Reilly on Yellowstone.
Wilson showered her co-stars with compliments, praising Reilly as being the ultimate, best Dutton. During her difficult transition to acting, one day, Reilly spoiled her cast member with the ultimate luxury - bath salts.
'[Beth] loved on me,' Wilson joked about her co-star. '[Kelly] encouraged me [when I was struggling]. She lifted me up.'
The kind gesture has not been forgotten by the singer-songwriter, who hails from Louisiana. The South, which is renowned for its hospitality, helped make the 30-year-old far more comfortable working with the other cast members of Yellowstone. Therefore, Wilson is adamant that Reilly is nothing like the character she portrays in the most popular show on television.
What's more, the friendship exists to the present date. And, while Wilson is not certain what will happen regarding the future of season five, she will testify that the two will remain friends well after the finale of Yellowstone occurs. She'll forever cherish their conversations, largely, because the two actors have difficulty understanding each other.
Reilly, who is from England, and Wilson - who originates from the Deep South (before relocating to Nashville) joked that the two need a 'translator' to make sense of their nonsense.
There may be Beth Dutton haters, but Lainey Wilson is not one of them. '[Kelly] is just a great person,' Wilson insists about the love/hate character.
