Ghost Rider’s engine isn’t done revving: Gabriel Luna is ready to return as Robbie Reyes, reflecting fondly on his Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. run and leaving the door wide open for a Marvel comeback.

Gabriel Luna has not put the Hell Charger in storage. The Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider from ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is still very much on his mind, and he says he is up for another ride if Marvel calls.

So, is Luna coming back?

Not officially. But in a new chat with ComicBookMovie while promoting his upcoming project The Astronaut, Luna made it clear he would happily revisit Robbie.

"I'm open to it... As somebody who loved that part and loves that character with all his heart, and somebody who loves that universe and storytelling... I always keep the door open."

That is as straightforward as it gets. No coy hedging, just a hey, call me.

Why he still cares about Robbie

Luna talked about how much the role still means to him years after that season 4 arc lit up Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He also gave props to his former castmates Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet, and Ming-Na Wen, who recently singled out the Ghost Rider run as their favorite part of the series during New York Comic Con. Considering that show ran a full seven seasons, having the core cast crown that year as the standout is a pretty big compliment. Luna clearly took it to heart.

He wrapped his Ghost Rider talk with an affectionate nod to both the character and Marvel, and there was a tiny slip of the tongue in there that read like he meant to say the obvious: they have his number.

"Yeah, I love Robbie, I love the Ghost Rider. You know, they have my number."

Where he is now

  • Luna first played Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 on ABC.
  • The series ultimately delivered seven seasons before wrapping.
  • He has since broken out as Tommy on HBO's The Last of Us and co-starred in Netflix's FUBAR.
  • Big-screen cred: he faced off with killer robots in Terminator: Dark Fate.
  • He is currently promoting The Astronaut and says there is a similar emotional backbone to that role and his Last of Us work: "There's a lot of heart to these characters."
  • The new comments came in his ComicBookMovie interview, which industry sites quickly picked up.

The bottom line

Luna clearly loves Robbie Reyes and is game to return. Marvel likes to keep options open, and so does he. If the studio decides it is time to bring a flaming chain back into the mix, it sounds like reconnecting will not be difficult.
