Can you guess which of the main actors is 13 years older than their character?

Heartstopper Season 2, which landed on Netflix last week, confirmed its title and melted the hearts of millions of viewers. In the new season, the relationship between protagonists Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring has reached a new stage. And of course, their friends and classmates had their own issues to deal with, both in their personal lives and at school.

All in all, with the struggles of coming out, relationship challenges, and considerable character growth, the new season of the romantic show feels much more mature and deeper than the premiere one. Heartstopper has successfully evolved into the coming-of-age drama vibe that made its source material, Alice Oseman's webcomic and graphic novel series, such a compelling read.

Of course, the brilliant performances of the lead cast were one of the main factors that made this transition possible. The thing is that all the main actors in the series are older than their characters and probably have a better understanding of life, which allowed them to portray the character development in a radiant way.

Here are all the ages of the actors playing the Truham Grammar and Higgs Girls School students, compared to the ages of their characters:

  • Kit Connor, 19 – Nick Nelson, 16
  • Joe Locke, 19 – Charlie Spring, 15
  • Yasmin Finney, 19 – Elle Argent, 16
  • William Gao, 20 – Tao Xu, 15
  • Tobie Donovan, 20 – Isaac Henderson, 15
  • Kizzy Edgell, 21 – Darcy Olsson, 16
  • Sebastian Croft, 21 – Ben Hope, 16
  • Rhea Norwood, 21 – Imogen Heaney, 16
  • Corinna Brown, 24 – Tara Jones, 16
  • Jenny Walser, 28 – Tori Spring, 16

As you can see, the actors playing the central couple of the show are both 19 years old, although Kit feels older than Joe on screen, which makes their dynamic very natural. The ages of the other actors range from 19 to 28, with Corinna Brown and Jenny Walser playing characters much younger than themselves.

While Tara is eight years younger than Corinna and Charlie's older sister is 13 years younger than Jenny, this does not have any effect on their portrayal of the characters. Both actresses fit effortlessly into their roles, and it's hard to imagine anyone else in their place.
