The producers seem to have no empathy for the housewives.

Bravo's Real Housewives franchise continues to delight viewers with vivid and memorable moments from the lives of the flamboyant housewives.

Full of drama and hilarious scenes, the show is highly addictive and makes you want to come back for more.

However, all that fun on the screen does not always mean fun for the cast themselves. Jacqueline Laurita, The Real Housewives of New Jersey alum, recently shared her opinion of the show, citing a situation that almost made her leave after Season 4. The star eventually quit the project after Season 7, and it looks like this was the best decision she's ever made.

On May 8, an episode of Behind the Velvet Rope podcast with David Yontef was released, featuring Jacqueline Laurita as a special guest. The RHONJ OG member talked about her experience on the show, revealing that it was actually unbearable for her as the producers controlled her every move and word.

'You're constantly looking over your shoulder… You're trying to talk about your life and they're like, "We're not following that. Tell us about this or talk about this",' Jacqueline shared.

The star went as far as to say that her tenure on the project felt like 'it was giving her cancer.'

Laurita wanted to leave the show in Season 4, but her contract required her to do at least one more season. She ended up staying even longer, through Season 7, which she now deeply regrets.

During filming, Jaqueline's son was diagnosed with autism, and instead of spending time with her family or at least sharing her concerns with friends, the contestant was forced to attend gossip sessions by producers.

'This show is disgusting… I don't want to be a part of this anymore,' the star concluded.

Fortunately, her decision to step away from television proved to be the right one, even therapeutic, as Jaqueline now has time for her family and personal life. No one is dictating what she should do and talk about on camera, and fans are happy for Jaqueline to enjoy the freedom she has been craving for all these years.

Meanwhile, Jacqueline's best friend Teresa Giudice is still on the project, appearing in the current Season 13 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. The next episode, released on May 23, will focus on her and Luis Ruelas' wedding. Be sure to watch it, as Jacqueline may also attend!
