Will Mel's pregnancy move faster than Charmaine's?

It may be hard to believe, but time may finally start moving in the Virgin River universe in the upcoming season. At least that is what the new behind-the-camera teaser suggests. And of course, a lot of screen time will likely be devoted to Mel's pregnancy.

Virgin River's official Instagram account recently sent the show's fandom into a frenzy by posting an extremely sweet Season 5 behind-the-scenes photo of Martin Henderson and Alexandra Breckenridge embracing in front of a beautiful lake. Annette O'Toole and Tim Matheson, who portray Hope and Doc, mirrored the protagonists even though they were not in the shot.

This image, which was used to remind viewers of the Season 5 premiere on September 7, couldn't help but melt the hearts of Virgin River fans — especially when they noticed one thrilling detail.

Mel has a visible baby bump in the image

'Do I see a little baby bump on Mel?' an excited fan wrote in the comments to the post.

5 Burning Questions We Need Answered ASAP in Virgin River Season 5The fact that Mel is pregnant has been known to viewers since the end of Season 3, and throughout the last chapter, the show explored the question of who the father of Mel's baby was. It was only in the finale that Mel found out the father was Jack, and the two got engaged to the delight of millions of viewers.

So why are fans so happy about the baby bump? Isn't it natural for a pregnancy to progress? Well, not in the Virgin River universe. Time seems to move much slower there than in the real world.

Charmaine Roberts (Lauren Hammersley) is another pregnant woman on the show, and she's been pregnant since Season 1.

'I just thought, comparing her pregnancy to Charmaine's, Mel will be pregnant for the next four seasons,' a fan wrote, adding a laughing emoji.

But judging by the promo materials for the upcoming season, it looks like Mel's pregnancy will be moving much faster than Charmaine's, and a large portion of Season 5 will likely be dedicated to the problems and joys that come with it.

Could the faster-moving time mean that Charmaine will finally give birth in Season 5? We certainly hope so. Do you?
