Battlefield 6: Here's How to Turn Off Crossplay in Seconds With One Simple Toggle

Battlefield 6 ships with crossplay switched on, tossing console players into all-platform lobbies for faster queues—if you’d rather keep it console-only, flip crossplay off in Settings under the System tab.
If you are playing Battlefield 6 on console and keep getting matched with mouse-and-keyboard sharpshooters, I get it. Crossplay is on by default, which is great for filling lobbies fast, but not always great for aim assist vs. laser precision. Here is how to shut it off, what that actually changes, and a smarter middle ground if you do not want to wait forever for a match.
Why you might want crossplay off (and why it is on by default)
Battlefield 6 launches with crossplay enabled, so you are thrown into a shared pool with console and PC players right away. That means faster matchmaking and easier server discovery, but it can also tilt the lobby against console players. Turning crossplay off levels that out a bit, at the cost of longer wait times because you are limiting the matchmaking pool to your platform.
How to disable crossplay on console
You can switch it off in a few seconds from the in-game settings. It stays off until you turn it back on.
- Open Settings from the top of the screen (it is right next to your Profile).
- Scroll down to the System tab at the bottom of the Settings menu (you may see it labeled Systems).
- Under the Setup section, look for the Crossplay option.
- Toggle Crossplay off. Done. Toggle it back on later from the same spot if you change your mind.
Heads up: with crossplay off, matchmaking can take longer. You are asking the game to find only players on your platform, which naturally shrinks the pool.
Is there console-only crossplay?
Sort of. Battlefield 6 has a feature on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S called 'preferred crossplay.' It tells the system to match you with other console players first. So if you are on PS5, the game will try to put you with PS5 and Xbox players before it looks anywhere else.
The catch: if there are not enough console players in the queue, the game will backfill with PC players to keep wait times reasonable. In other words, 'preferred crossplay' is a priority, not a promise. If you want guaranteed console-only lobbies, you will need to fully disable crossplay.
Alternative: plug in a keyboard and mouse on console
If you like crossplay’s quicker queues but hate feeling outgunned, there is another option: use a keyboard and mouse on PS5 or Xbox for Battlefield 6. Yes, it is supported on both consoles, and that support has been confirmed by Alexia Christofi, a producer at EA DICE. It is not for everyone, but it does level the input playing field without turning off crossplay.
So, what is your move: faster queues with crossplay on, strictly console-only with crossplay off, or keyboard-and-mouse on console and call it a day?
