Some actors have a tough time watching themselves perform, and this Outlander star is one of them.

Outlander has been popular since it landed back in 2014. Based on Diana Gabaldon's book series, it became a surprising hit almost overnight. The romance, time travel, adventure, and intrigue all combine to create a brilliant show.

Season 7 left us hanging in the balance and waiting eagerly to find out what happens in the second half. But one star has no idea because he has admitted to not watching the show since he joined the cast.

Scottish actor Steven Cree joined the Outlander cast in season 1, as Ian Murray, best friend and later brother-in-law to the leading man, Jamie Fraser. He would continue to appear on the show until departing in season 4. During an interview with SheKnows' in February this year, Cree admitted that he has not watched Outlander since he was cast.

'I haven't watched the series since season one because there's no fun in watching things, you're in. You can't suspend your belief in the same way, you can't get lost in it,' he explained.

Good News for Ian Murray Fans, He's Back!

Cree may not have watched the show since season 1, but the fans have been glued to it. The agonizing wait for the second half of season 7, which is due to land in 2024, has just been made that much harder. Steven Cree has confirmed that he will be returning as Ian in the second half. He has spoken fondly of his return to working on the show.

'It was really nice to go back again. It kinda felt like… it was weird, it didn't feel like going to work. In a way, it felt like going and putting on a wig and some clothes with my mates and putting on a Scottish accent. I feel like we're all putting on Scottish accents in it,' he said.

When asked if it was strange for him to film with Kristin Atherton playing his wife, Jenny, instead of original actress Laura Donnelly, he had nothing but praise for Atherton.

'Kristin, who came in and played Jenny was so fantastic,' he said.

Season 7 Conclusion: What to Expect

Cree and the rest of the cast have been tight-lipped around what we are likely to see in the second half of season 7. There are rumors of a movie possibly being in development following the series ending, but this has not yet been confirmed at the time of writing. One thing is for sure, we can expect a lot more drama, romance, and brilliant acting performances from the Outlander cast.
