The two definitely like fooling around together.

Ted Lasso, currently in its third and final season, has been entertaining us for almost four years now. Despite its apparent focus on sports, the Apple TV+ comedy show has delved deep into human drama and relationships, and friendship has been one of its main topics.

Rebecca Welton and Keeley Jones, Rebecca and Ted Lasso, Ted and Coach Beard, Ted and pretty much everybody else — these are numerous examples of amicable relationships on the show. But are the actors who play these characters also friends in real life?

In particular, fans of the show are interested in the relationship between Phil Dunster and Brett Goldstein, the actors who portray Jamie Tartt and Roy Kent, respectively.

The two stars recently gave a joint interview to Apple TV. The platform that produces Ted Lasso has a tradition of doing interviews with its show's actors paired up. In 2021, for example, there was an interview with Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple, who play Rebecca and Keeley. In the interviews, the actors ask each other a number of silly (and some serious) questions while having a friendly chit-chat.

Goldstein and Dunster's interview turned out rather goofy. However, the two have also shared some details about both their on- and off-screen relationships. Their characters, Roy and Jamie, couldn't stand each other throughout most of the show, but in the third season, they seem to be growing closer to one another. The actors' real-life friendship is possibly the cause for this development.

'I really, really love doing scenes with you, and I want to do lots of more scenes with you,' Dunster told Goldstein while commenting on the fourth episode of Ted Lasso Season 3.

Needless to say, Roy Kent's actor retorted with a confession of love to his fellow cast member since 'day one.'

All jokes aside, Brett Goldstein is also one of Ted Lasso's writers, and he is partly responsible for their characters' storylines. The two actors have spent a lot of time together on set and, naturally, must have become really close during the production process.

The Apple TV interview also features footage of Goldstein and Dunster from behind the scenes where they are laughing and having fun in between filming scenes.

So clearly, the two actors are great friends, and there is also hope that the relationship between their characters will become more amicable.

Ted Lasso's next episode will be streamed on May 10.
