Fans worry about the future of beloved characters.

When Netflix premiered the first season of Heartstopper in 2022, many people were finally able to experience the beautiful world that author Alice Oseman has been creating since 2016. With a larger viewing platform, Oseman's graphic novels began to sell like crazy, cementing her status as one of the most talented writers of romantic fiction today.

However, the original books and Netflix's adaptation are very different in many ways, and those who haven't read the graphic novels are still wondering what's next for Charlie and Nick.

By the end of the recently released Season 2, it was clear that Nick and Charlie were truly in love. Although the characters still haven't openly confessed their feelings to each other, fans are sure that they do want to spend the rest of their lives together. But what does Oseman herself think?

While the graphic novel series is not finished yet, some people started to speculate that the author might break up Charlie and Nick to add some realism to their whimsical story. But it looks like those rumors are far from true, as some fans have provided doubters with proof that Oseman has no intention of ruining Nick and Charlie's relationship.

'She has said that they are 100% soulmates and they do get married to each other. Her exact words, IIRC, were "Nick and Charlie are endgame." She's drawn comics of them living together, getting a dog, them preparing to propose to one another, etc.,' one fan pointed out.

Also, Heartstopper is an incredibly cozy show and one of the most uplifting LGBTQ+ stories of the current decade, so it would be extremely strange if the central couple ends up losing each other in the finale.

'I mean… Can you imagine if the Heartstopper story ended with Nick and Charlie breaking up and not seeing each other ever again? How heartbroken everyone who, like you, found comfort in their story would be? No, not happening. Nick and Charlie are endgame,' another fan said.

Nick and Charlie will be back next year for Season 3, and though they may bicker a bit, don't forget they're basically made for one another, and Alice Oseman understands that perfectly.
