Aquaman 2 Goes Disturbingly Dark With a Scene That Caused Walkouts
It looks like the blockbuster will shock the audiences.
Although the DCEU had one of the worst years in its existence in 2023, with both The Flash and Blue Beetle failing to make a profit, fans of the franchise are still excited about the future, as the new creative director, James Gunn, is already working on producing and directing new films that should make DC a real rival to the MCU once again. Until then, however, fans will have to endure Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, a major blockbuster that seems doomed to flop.
With an insane production budget and multiple controversies to its name, Aquaman 2 looked like a total dud, but people are still moderately excited to see the movie this Christmas, as James Wan's reveal that the movie will largely focus on Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson's characters made people interested once again. However, it looks like one thing might ruin the movie's chances of success.
A controversial plot twist
As we all know from the trailer, Aquaman will finally become a father in the movie, raising a child hilariously named Aquababy in the original comics. However, the test screening for the movie apparently revealed a darker truth about Aquaman's son, as audiences reportedly walked out of the theater after Aquababy was supposedly killed.
Yes, it looks like Wan decided to add infanticide to his Christmas movie, which is pretty dark and weird even by DCEU standards. However, fans are pretty sure that this storyline is just a rumor, because even though Aquababy was actually killed in the comics, it's highly unlikely that Warner Bros. would allow such a horrible thing to happen in their movie.
'Everything let out from the test screenings has indicated that the movie was a pretty breezy, silly buddy comedy, it would've been flat out bizarre if infanticide was included in that,' said one fan.
In any case, we'll have to wait until December 20, 2023, when Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits U.S. theaters, to find out if this rumor is true, because let's face it, we'll all have to see it to really believe it.
