Where the story picks up
The sequel is set nearly two decades after the original. Andy Sachs is back at Runway, now as the magazine's new Features Editor. The trailer bounces through the familiar hallways, conference rooms, and dagger-stare meetings inside the office, with the fashion world once again serving as the backdrop. The needle drop is very on the nose: Madonna's Vogue pulses underneath the footage.
The moments everyone will be quoting
The trailer cold-opens with Nigel spotting his former colleague and setting the tone with one line that lands like a stiletto:
"Well, look what T.J. Maxx dragged in..."
From there, Nigel introduces Andy to Miranda, who acts like she barely remembers her and tosses off: "She is one of the Emilys." Emily Charlton shows up for the drive-by assessment, clocking Andy's glow-up and then twisting the knife just a tad with: "You have changed. You are much more confident. You kept those eyebrows, though, did you not?" It is the exact mix of icy and petty you showed up for.
The vibe
This is clearly a homecoming. The key players are back on screen and behind the camera, the fashion-world sheen is intact, and the trailer leans into the awkward fun of Andy re-entering Miranda's orbit at a much higher level. The little grace note of Miranda pretending not to remember her? Brutal. Perfect.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 struts into theaters May 1, 2026. Start hydrating; there will be discourse.
